WMA = microsoft trying to standardise things again...
it'll never be as popular as mp3. even if they do have smaller file sizes

I also have tke HPM-10, but I never tried anything else than MP3 files. I will try WMA, but I am sure it won't work! Btw, I use \"Nex Encode Studio\" to convert audiofiles from one type into an other.

Just tried it.. it does NOT support WMA. By the way im gonna sell the mp3 player .. :SS it'd rock if only it does not get disconnected every 10 seconds (unless you leave it untouched at all) |

Regular cleaning using cleaning fluid (casette tape head cleaner fluid) on your phone's connector parts as well and the MP3 player carefully with a cotton bud head will solve your problem.
I was furious once like you, but now I am free.
Love my MP3 attachment too much to get rid of it.
Cheers. |

Maybe it doesn't work, but it's a great format.
WMA is better than MP3 in size, compression ratio, and it's as near to CD quality as you'll ever get. MP3 doesn't come close at the same bitrate.
There are tons of other formats out there almost as good as WMA, but most of em are definitely better than MP3. MP3 is just more widely covered.

Hi There,
First of all, sorry about my english, it is not very good.
I am brand new with SE Phones, I've just bought a P800.
Anyway talking about music format, I recomend to you guys take a look at the OggVorbis format, it is an open source audio codec and there is a Player to P800. Sure that is not as popular as MP3 and WMA, but it it is a very cool audio codec and the files are approximately a factor two smaller than mp3 files.

Ogg files are still big in file size. WMA can do 700kb from a 4mb file and sounds good. I hope too that P800 can play WMA files. |

Hi,
If you are talking about the HBM-30 with Bluetooth, I suppose it will probably read only MP3 and Atrac3... like other sony products |
