i am buying a new laptop.i want to know whether a combo drive 24/12/24/8 can play all kinds of dvds or not like cd rom can play cd-r cd-rw.i mean can it play dvd-r,dvd ram(i dont know what it is,i read somewhere)and other dvd formats .
please put me right direc tion as i am a student and i will keep the same laptop for atleast 3 yrs and i want to go for the latest which can read all kinds of media.. please throw some light on it. |

usually in the technical spec for the computer you can find which formats it can read... but my guess is that it can read the common DVD formats available on the market today... |

A combo drive generally reads all kinds of dvds. I think the types are DVD+R and DVD-R, depending on what kind of burner was used to burn it. (I'm not sure though). Generally, if it is called a cobo drive it will burn cds and cdrw etc, and read all dvds (including double-layer).
