As talks are undergoing about a Sprint and Nextel merger there are now rumors that Verizon is planning to buy Sprint.

Verizon -> Sprint -> Nextel

It's like the shark eating the big fish that's eating the small fish.

So is it going to end up just being two monster cell providers in the US?
- Cingular vs Verizon.
- GSM vs CDMA.

I sure hope not...because I'm still sticking with T-Mobile and hope they don't get purchased by anyone else.

Anyone else know anything about Verizon buying Sprint?

Just heard about the Sprint/Nextel thing myself. I wouldn't be shocked if Verizon were to jump on the bandwagon, but it would limit market for cell phones. I don't think there is a whole lot to worry about though, the Verizon/Sprint thing has a been a nagging rumor forever and it doesn't seem to be going anywhere.

i was at a sprint meeting bout a month ago and this topic was brought up. sprint told us that they're not taking any of verizon's bids. and about nextel and sprint, they're designing a whole new line up of phones for their flagship and the network won't be complete until 2007. i wonder what's going to happen with tmobile.
