i have ordered a bose sound system and it was traced all the way from chicago airport,it then said it landed in britain.and then 2 days ago it said it was being processed in customs.Do you think it might be out of customs now and not being traced further,or does it really take this long with special airmail delivery claiming to be be 2 to 3 days..cos the tracing site has not been updated and it claims to be in customs still!and finally who will it be who delivers it?royal mail? I had a package sent to me from the US.I got a letter from Royal Mail asking me to go to a Parcelforce depot and pay a duty on the item.

Customs can take weeks (although usually 2 or 3 days). Larger parcels are handled by Parcelforce. If there's Import Duty or VAT to be paid, Parcelforce will invoice you. They will also charge you a £13.50 'handling' fee. You can pay by credit/debit card over the phone and arrange for next day delivery. Or in to depot to collect and pay by cash/cheque.
