Google's Competition ? |

Dont know if anybody heard of this.
According to the local newspaper here, Google now has competition as to the best search engine on the web. Clusty uses the advanced search engine developed by Vivismo which groups search results into categories otherwise called 'clusters' .
According to the news report, it crawls through many more sites than google does - approx 1 million more (not sure if this fact is true )
From the Clusty website -
The specially-developed Vivísimo clustering algorithm puts search results together (clusters them) based on textual and linguistic similarity. This raw similarity is augmented with heuristics (i.e., human knowledge) - coded by Vivísimo's programmers and partly invented by them - based on what users wish to see when they examine clustered documents. The clusters are shown to users in the style of folders and sub-folders.
Vivísimo's Clustering Engine lets you see deeper and farther--with less effort--into a large number of search results to:
*Get a quick overview of the main themes that relate to the query.
*See similar results grouped together for faster access.
*Find results that are buried in the ranked list and would otherwise be missed.
*Discover unexpected results and relationships between items.
Its almost as effective as google imo.

edit : I verified and it doesnt search through as many pages as Google.

@kllr_dude - Nice report mate! Though I guess clusty.com will take at least a YEAR to be finally known throughout as a GOOD search engine (if ever) site! Records though shows that, Google's achievements are just ONE 'fastest' made (search and popularity issues at that) to date ! |
