Now that orange has launched 3G today, I went online using my K700 with a payg sim card. I noticed that the typical file size for a movie is 200-400k, Because I am not on a contract, I was told that I cannot download most of the stuff, but after a while I managed to get a music video (221k) and the quality is shocking.

Can anyone confirm using a 3g handset if the filesize increases as Vodafone videos etc are about 1500k?

Thanks

sorry mate I don;t understand.

Do you mean the same file will have bigger size because of 3G when you're downloading it? Not possible.

Or do you wish to know if 3G phones can handle bigger files?

Or are you talking about streaming and not actual file sizes at all?

Hmm.. the K700i is not a 3G phone. 3G phones can download larger files in less time. Generally UMTS phones support much larger files.

Hoping that with a 3g phone you might have 2 filesizes, one for gprs (maybe 200k) and the other for 3g phones( 1000-2000k), but this seems unlikely

In which case whats the point in downloading 3g content (movie trailers, music videos etc) if the quality is terrible

With Vodafone your average file is 1.5mb, great quality be it for trailers or music and it only takes about 30sec to download

@dragonfly, just trying to say that with a 3g handset all that extra speed is wasted if the 3g content on Orange is only 200-400k (not streaming)

but because you don't have a 3G phone you don't see 3G content. This is how vlive works, it checks your IMEI.
