P800 buried by SE? |

recently launched a program called Sonyericsson desktop which provides desktop functions similar to Tracker or Handy Day - for P9XX.
This was - imo - one of the most missing features in the PXXX series.
So I asked helpline/online call center when there will be a P800 version of this essential software.
It wonīt. Not on their list. Isnīt that a little bit early to bury the phone and, furthermore, put off customers who gave this PXXX series a chance?
Just wondering..

well the P800 is now 2 generations old... how far back should they keep supporting old devices?
having said that you would have thought the code changes required to make it work on p800 would be fairly minimal

Yep, thought the required changes could be minimal. But even if not - I guess a lot of people having a P800 for longer or just fresh will start to think about the policy when such a essential app is not available for the phone - I mean the idea of buying a phone with the need to buy external apps just to make working with it comfortable in a basic way is not what I expect. And I donīt understand the phones of the PXXX series as very different in the software functions. I guess it could put more people of of than lead them to buy a newer phone just because itīs provided with a software that should be delivered with every phone of this series - or amended - imho..

Most of se fans will go for a p9 if it is. Just to leave a brand cos of a desktop is pointless

but itīs not only the desktop - I mean, compared to a simple nokia with profiles, wallet, EASY access to most of the functions - it would have been ok if it was a perfect phone and a mediocre PDA - but itīs neither that nor a perfect PDA and a mediocre phone.. Iīm annoyed of this attitude towards customers not to improve a present product but just to say 'so what - go for the new'..

@fetzi. I can see your point, but not everyone would agree. For one, there must be lots of people out there pleased with what they have on their p800 & dont see a real need for something like tracker. I've used the demo; its good. But it doesnt hit me as a real need. I'm not so bothered with that.
I'll stick with my p800 till my needs outgrow its capabilities, & then go for an upgrade.

As a P800 user I must say I dont agree with you.
I own 4 PCs: P1 133MHZ, P2MMX 233MHZ, P2MMX 266MHZ, P4 2.4MHZ. Everyone do their job, I mean, I bought them in different times for different functions. Despite the fact that Id love to add P1 in my intranet I still love that old PC.
See my point? I like so much my P800, its enough powerfull n with several util apps (in 2 years I see more util apps in UIQ that PocketPC had when it was released). Support is for bugs, and if SE wont fix new important bugs in P800 Ill share ur view in that moment.

@Oco. I'm a little lost here. Is your post a response to my last post, the original post, or another?
