I finally got my z500a. First customs delayed it then.. the mail man was to lazy to bring to my house..so I had to wait till after 5 to get it form the post office..
anyways
The phone seems to be a combination of left over parts... that seems kinda bad but not really after a while you get spoiled...i guess..
The z500a has an external 4k lcd.. like the Razr v3.. looks pretty much the same. the cam is a VGA .3 , zoom, and video mode.
Memory is 4 mb.
Internal screen is a 65k t616/t637 screen...a bit better i think but very similar.
the plastic feels like the z200.
when you flip is open it makes the z600 click noise.
So you can see what i mean by left or parts or a blend of SE phones.
The UI is the new style ala k700i...supports animations etc...
Excellent news here.. the Z500a UI is blazing fast... no issues at all with speed.. just incredible for all you SE slow menu haters.
Speakerphone is pretty good and available as the left soft key upon connection... (i talk about this all the time.. i hate how the s7/k700 do this) good job on cingualr to make se fix it on the s710 and z500.
Ringtones are LOUD and the quality is good.
Video plays smooth.
Connectivity...
No BT no IRDA... hmmm what was SE thinking....
So we're left with MMS, email and datacable... if anybody knows how to setup the datacable/synctation please let me know..i too lazy to spend time to look into it...
That's pretty much it... keypad is pretty good.phone has a solid build..
Pics from phone
Here are some cam pics i extracted...not bad... i think same as k700i
at first i thought the cam sucked but then realized the platic was still on.
outside rainy..freezing rain day
with plastic still on (ahahhah)
Please post with comments or questions.

nice little review, but i have to say in my opinion it is a pretty poor phone compared the rest of the latest SE range.
Because the platform sends bogus messages while charging, that is why!!!..But why this change of heart?..We sense a charger connected, oops, we will not shut down after all!!!..*********************** UI BASIC, HOLD YOUR HORSES

It must be. My K700i can't compare to the pictures you have posted! How about the battery?
[Update] My K700i produces pictures of much much less quality than what you have posted. As a matter of fact, it produces pictures with a quality that reminds of the picture you posted where the plastic was still on (and that's not a joke!). This phone of yours must have a completely different camera!
Aaarghh! The first two pictures you posted is of course taken with another camera! The other two you posted taken with the new phone reminds me of my K700i. Not much of a difference... stupid me - time to go to bed

I'm having a dilemma, I was with ATT, but me and my GF (on fam plan) switched over to cingular because she gets a discount there on the main line.
I thought we'd have more of a phone selection now that both are merged... but if I remember correctly there were maybe twice as many phones listed on the ATT site then the cingular site
I've had my beloved T637, and it is locked. Could get it unlocked if I wanted to ship it to come other city and wait, but figured I'll see what Cingular has. Wanted to go flip this time anyways, but the Z500a has NO BLUETOOTH?!?!?! Bluetooth should be standard on all phones :''''(
also there seems to be an excessive border around the inside display...
I wish the K700 would make it to stores here already, I don't want to buy an international phone that doesn’t support the 800/850 bands

one problem that people are finding is a way to adjust the contrast.. it seems non-existant the option, but is it a fw difference or just not there at all?
Mobile handset(s): 1. PROTOTYPE TU2 Ericsson R520m CE. (Made: 00W43). 2. Rose White T39mc. (Flashed to T39m). 3. Icy Blue Sony Ericsson T200. (Water-damage revival!). |

Hi Everyone,
I'm new to Esato. Getting back to the Z500a, I am enjoying the expanded memory, and the MP3 ringtones compared to my T616, but the lack of bluetooth issue is now proving a problem. The USB cable does not help as I have a Mac and the driver workarounds are not working. So no DCU-11 driver for Mac. That said, I am now regretting the purchase of this handset. So Mac users be warned: Do not fall for the current promotions on the Z500a. Cingular/ATT is just trying to unload inventory.
It's truly a shame, this phone would enjoy a little popularity if it had some bluetooth, and some Mac support. Now I have noticed that the SE website does not even show the Z500 on its site anymore. |
