I know its a bit off topic, but my torch exploded when I turned it on this morning, had a few small cuts to the face and ringing in the ears, which after 1 hour is starting to annoy me! Below is a photo of the torch after I picked up the pieces

After checking the internet I found out this can happen to mobile phone batteries under quite a few circumstances, though its quite rare!. Just thought I'd share the photo so you can see the damage.

Now im paranoid of putting my phone in my pocket

this is a true story. For my Design Technology project part of it was to make a circuit. Well i made it all and plugged in a 9V battery the wrong way. i was holding the battery, then i got a weird feeling in my fingertips and the hair on the back of my neck stood up. I promtly dropped the battery on the floor, at which point it exloded! lucky i dropped it when i did ....

If only we could figure out a way of timing it so that it explodes on impact, or after a short, oh say 3 second, fuse!

That would be awesome. In the middle of an exam I could roll the battery across the floor and anyone's foot gets in the way and.. BOOM!!!! Everyone jumps! That would be too cool. Any suggestion?
