Hey,
Saw a few posts on here regarding the relatively new photo ipod. Full color screen, 40gb storage, etc. My bro-in-law passed on a link for a free one. Check out Wired's article about the promo HERE.
Wired's article is about the regular 4 or 20gb ipod only, but the photo ipod promo is by the same company. There's a link or two to info on people who've already received ipods.
I've already signed up, and the process is pretty painless. Basically you need to complete on of their offers (most of which are free trial anyway), then have some of your friends or family complete an offer too. Here's the link for the photo ipod, and the one for the regular i pod as well. Shoot me an e-mail if you have any questions. I'll do my best to answer them: jokunok@yahoo.com

These links and promos are useless if you are outside of the USA.
And including the "/?r=xxxxxxxx" in the URL is just going to help this guy get his free iPod quicker by acting as your referrer, if you choose to sign up.

@meths
In layman's terms, it's a freebie pyramid scheme, I think, presumably designed to gain consumer details to add to a marketing database, which can then be sold for bucks, and the end result is you get sent loads of crap by people you've never heard of.
Seems to me anyway...

Apparently, you can also get a free [insert most expensive phone you can think of here] on Ebay for £20. Fancy that!

Sorry, I did forget to say that they ship only in the US. As for spam, I used a new dummy Yahoo account to sign up, but haven't gotten a single spam e-mail yet. I've already seen a lot of websites from people who've received their ipods already, and if i do eventually have to click my 'empty recycle bin' a little more often, I think it's worth it.
And yeah, using those links will help me to get mine, which is why I posted them. Nothing wrong with that, is there? If someone's going to sign up, they may as well help someone out by doing it.
As for how it works, I'd expect my e-mail address to eventually end up on some solicitors list, which is why I used a dummy account instead of my normal one.
Basically, you're given a list of companies to try out, like Blockbuster Video (my bro-in-law just got his 3 DVD's in the mail to watch and return, plus we also got 2 free video game rentals from it), ancestry.com, BMG or Columbia House, and a few others. Most of these are free trials, and you decide whether you or not you want to keep the membership.
Here's some more detailed info on how everything works http://www.free-ipods.info/.
The company doing this, Gratis Internet, is registered with the Better Business Bureau.
As for how they can afford to do it, the companies using Gratis say it best here:http://www.wired.com/news/print/0,1294,64614,00.html |

I saw a programme on the BBC here in the UK about this exact offer... It's not a pyramid scheme it is a genuinely free iPod (for the end user at least).
Basically, companies pay the 'free iPod' company for every person they get to try their products, whether or not they decide to continue using the product after the free trial. The free iPod company use this money to buy and supply the iPods.
Americans are now so apathetic to regular TV & print advertising that companies are now having to resort to actually paying consumers to try their products. The free iPod company is the middle-man, making the link between company and consumer.
You have to try quite a few products and get even more friends to sign up before you get the free iPod. But it does work... eventually...

Spare me the "im doing it to help you guys" story, its spam pure and simple. You googled your way onto a dozen forums, and posted identical adverts to help you get an ipod. Thats spam.

you said you used a dummy email for it. but what about your delivery address for when they send it out to you, did you no think that they might spam you with letters about free offers and shit. unless you have no letter box but a post office box and they deliver it to you by courier, that way your pretty much safe.
