I got a samsung x100 phone. Theres a setting in the java menu called DNS settings. Its like 0.0.0.0. What is this? Manual doesnt explain this either. if i instaled a java app like an email client or a web browser they wont work, keeps saying cant connect. is there any connection between these two problem? Thanks!

Since its under java, u may not b able 2 dnld apps without gettng it right. If u r using gprs wap, internet utilities wont work,as they require a gprs internet account.

DNS = Domain Naming Server as hyperken said.
Each URL such as 'www.esato.com' translates to an unique IP address such as '124.345.23.23' . DNS does this translation. You need to contact ur service provider to get the proper settings.
Although this might be the same as IP address we enter into the Data settings.

This dns is in the java menu. The one in gprs settings is ok. the manual describes this as "this is used to connect the java server" my internet and mms works fine.

hmm, so i think it means the ip address used by java programs to connect, i believe. I think its the same ip address used for gprs.

SE phones dont have a separate DNS setting. You just choose the gprs account thru which u want java programs to connect and thats the gprs account thru which u browse also.
