With the digital camera megapixel race heating up fast, camera phones are destined to follow the same path. Telecoms Korea is reporting that LG Electronics has plans to bring the first 6-megapixel camera phones to market in Japan.

The LG spokesperson confirmed that the sensor will most likely come from Canon, and may even be 7 megapixels.

No idea yet if it will have bt or any other specifications as the handset is in very early developement stages and it really will be a while before we know much more about it. [addsig]

@axxxr - Nice one - again dude! If ever that will 'materialise' in the very distant 'future' . . . probabilities are very HIGH that conventional camera makers will be OUT of business - soon !

i dont know what people think, but in UK at the moment i think the jury is still out on Camera phones, there have been reports of murders that have been captured on camera phones. not a very good image for the camera phone.

Because the platform sends bogus messages while charging, that is why!!!..But why this change of heart?..We sense a charger connected, oops, we will not shut down after all!!!..*********************** UI BASIC, HOLD YOUR HORSES

I don't get the mania over megapixel phones. What they do is just make the image bigger, by making the pixels many, so at a compressed level like in phones, it should look good.

BUT, it doesn't improve the image quality at all.

Most phones, if not all, (exception: S700) use a megapixel LCDs for their cameras. Why don't the other companies start using CCD like the digital cameras. I mean SE did this in the form of S700.

Picture is just there to represent a LG model and by no means suggests that this will be the 6 or 7MP model. [addsig]
