A judge in Long Island went Judge Judy on a 17-year-old girl who was in court facing drug possession charges after her cellphone started ringing during a hearing. The judge had already warned everyone to shut off all electronic devices or face contempt charges, and when the girl’s cellphone started ringing he setenced her to 21 days in jail, which she had to start serving immediately.

what would be next? manslaughter as an act of self-defense in a cinema when a phone is ringing?
Nevertheless not completely wrong decision..

i do believe that leaving a phone on or not muted in a cinema or theatre should be a criminal offense. and SHOUTING YOUR LUNGS OUT on your phone in public (on the street, for example). |

oh yes, shouting in internet forums should be illegal too, unless it is for illustrating a point :) |

nah Kim,
unusual punishment would have been the judge asking for the phone, taking the callers details then advising that both the caller and the person called are in contempt and that while one is at the courthouse, the other should expect to be soon.
As for cellphones in movies, grr, first thing I bluejack out while at the movies is turn your damned phones off!
Wish BT was more common. |
