I bought a K700i yesterday and felt like a fool for not remembering to check whether the My Friends feature is present. It's missing, and I feel shortchanged. My Esato search seems to come to the conclusion that the My Friends was "sacrificed" in favor of Chinese characters. I think that without My Friends, SMS chat is not possible; besides, I don't speak/read Chinese.

I am from the Philippines. Is there a place here where K700i with My Friends is available? I'm looking at the possibility of a swap.

I am a bit confused. I was supposed to have gotten a K700i but did I really get a K700c?

Can a FW update or reflashing load my phone with My Friends? (I have R2L001.)

My unit works perfectly otherwise (so far). By the way, it's my first SE. Honestly, I bought it mainly because of so much browsing on Esato -- that's how much I appreciate this forum!

Thanks for the reply bobafett! I went to a lot of shops yesterday here in Manila and thereabouts, and it seems that all, if not most of them carry the "hybrid" K700i/K700c, which is made in China. (My user manual is supposed to apply to both models.)

I've just decided to treat it as a non-issue. I can install J2ME IM apps to the K700 anyway, even those that I couldn't use previously on Nokia series 40 due to midlet size constraints. My K7's also free of bugs, so I'm quite happy.
