K700i New User can you talk me through it? |
Sapphire Joined: Nov 17, 2004 Posts: 2 PM |
Well, I had my new K700i yesterday. I've never had a SE before!
The battery is already running low (I suppose I have been playing with it loads) but I've been reading about all this firmware etc and wondered if someone could help me.
I don't know how to find out what 'firmware' i'm running or how to even change it. would this improve the battery?
Thanks!

Hi,
Welcome to Esato! It is a brilliant site with info about your phone and others and plenty of friendly people to help out!
If you only just got your K700i then it is quite likely that you have the latest firmware in it. My K700 is off @ ACR Logistics getting updated so I can't, off hand remember the combination of buttons to press to check the firmware.
There is however an official online update service on the Sony Ericsson website that you can use. You will need to purchase a DSS-25 Desk Synchronisation stand to be able to do this.
Anway thats my 2 pence worth!

welcome to Esato
you probably do have the latest firmware but details of how to check and links to latest firmware threads can all be found in the Answers to the most common questions on Esato Forums (FAQ style)

To find out what firmware you have, from the standby screen (keylock off) press the joystick in these dirctions (plus use the * key).
>*<<*<*
Then service info
Then software info
Your firmware will be the written on the first line.
The newist firmware i beleave is R2L001
To update your firmware (if you need to) i'd advise you take in to your nearist Sonyericsson center.
Plus after a few full charges the battery should hold its charge for longer, also i noticed after the firmware upgrade to R2L001 the battery also lasts longer (or is displayed as lasting longer).

Rule1. Dont worry if battery drops fast, it will get better over time. Turn of bt,ir when you are not using it.
Rule2. It is a phone with camera and not viceversa.
Rule3. You made a good choice and am the greatest!
Rule4. Visit esato often if you need to fine out the latest about the phone.
Rule5. If you have costomised version, unbrand it.
Rule6. The above action will void your warranty. ;-)
Rule7. Get more games, the factory presets are not so good.
Rule8. The alarm will not work if phone is off.
