Please read until the end because I have a little note for people who won't read because they won't believe me.
These are the Market Plans for 2005 of MOST major brands.
MOTOROLA:
Motorola are looking forward on releasing atleast 50 mobiles phones to support all mobile markets. They expected to release PDA phones, Microsoft based phones, and Entertainment phones such as E680 that could watch movies for 2 hours. Motorola also decided to look back into Black/White screen to fulfill the low-end products.
PANASONIC:
Panasonic in the past had been disadvantage among low-end phones and price competition on higher brand phones. Panasonic decided to move 10 mobile phones on to Mobile Market which they decided to base their mobile phones on MegaColor Display(I guess they meant like 1M color screen) and MP camera. Panasonic also decided to drop the low-end market and head for high-end instead which they see a better future. Panasonic decided to plan 2-3 mobile phones release each quarter of 2005.
SONY ERICSSON:
Sony Ericsson are looking forward into getting 2nd place in Mobile Market Share. Their goals relies on 8 mobile phones that they atleast had planned for its release in 2005(Meaning there could be more than 8 to meet the market demands). Sony Ericsson decided to release phones with great features, but the cost might still be high.
NOKIA/SAMSUNG:
Nokia and Samsung seems to be the heat match in 2005 since they both plan on releasing atleast 40 mobile phones in 2005!! Which each month you would see about 3-4 phones releasing by these two brands.
Nokia however decided that most of the phones would not develope much higher than 65k color screen since the market still remains in this category, but few will be more 65k color screens.
NOTE: These news were announced by the High Executive Manager of Thailand's mobile communication themselves and THESE brands DID have their representatives to announce their market plan for 2005. I did not lie.

If you think I did lied then ask a Thai person in this forum to translate this Thai forum for you. Respect to anyone who believes me. Thankyou for reading and ENJOY THE 100's OF PHONES RELEASING IN 2005!! |

Sounds feasible but if you notice the article says at least "planned". Thanks for the post BTW. I wonder what treasures SE will be bestowing on us this year? Looks like Nokia and Samsung swamping the market in 2005.

I have to make a point regarding SE's alleged intention of overtaking all other mobile manufacturers in terms of sales, except Nokia. Ths seems completely ludicrous considering that SE are currently in fifth place with regards to market share, I don't see how releasing eight handsets, no matter how good, is going to push them ahead of Motorola, not to mention Samsung.

thanx for the interesting info. it seems quite possible to me if you take into consideration that maybe as much as 1/3 of releases are going to be targeted for the asian markets only, so we may never see them in here.
only se plans to become world no 2 seems a bit silly to me, with 8 new handsets they will be happy if they can keep their current position.

Yes the mobile market will be exciting next year. PDA's will become more like phones, phones will become more like pda's but remain small (look at the SPV (qtek) C500 or the motorola mpx (and mpx220) they run even full pc applications. Next year CCD camera's for phones will become popular, with optical zoom and 3 tot 5 megapixels (also comming to europe and not only the asian market) small HDD (harddrive) of 5gb or larger. 2gb mini mcc cards. New bluetooth standard that lets you connect upto 100 meters.. etc. etc. |

They'll probably have models like 5611, 5612, 5613, 5614, 5615, and so on...

@kenx3000 - Yes! I agree specially with that of Nokia's plans for 2005 - 40 handsets to be released, as I have seen it also in CNN about a week ago . . . Nokia's unrelentless fone PROLIFERATION is still creating a BIG havoc for the consuming public. Have to SAVE more dineros as to catch-up with the very latest Nokia celfone TREND ! |

i wonder why SE has chosen to 'plan' on releasing the least amount of mobiles in 2005. hopefully they have something special in the bag theyve been hiding especially for us. if not then that wud suck |

It was mentioned somewhere here that nokia were looking at 30 new handsets next year, so 40 does sound reasonably accurate.

Tell you what....I did see something very interesting yesterday. Our T-Mobile rep had a mini-MDA with him. Slightly smaller than a Nokia 7610, but similar dimensions, this is apparently the "budget" version of the new XDA/MDA III, due for release imminently in the UK.
As far as I'm concerned, this is where the market's headed. It had the full feature repertoire of the MDA III, but in a proper fixed form, phone size, the majority of the space being taken up by a touchscreen. With Wi-Fi and 1.3MP camera, to complement the functions already available on and XDA/MDA II, I am sure this is a winner, even with the Microshit operating system.
Might be tempted away from and Symbian, albeit temporarily, after all...
