is it really nesseccary to have a WiFi router to link my laptop and Pc? I've got a WiFi PCI card in the Pc and the laptops got one built in. Is there anyway of linking them without a Router?

Well do you only want to link the pc and laptop or do you want to link the pc, the laptop and something else ie a broadband modem? If you want to do first option then no router necessary but if you want second option or more things aswell then you need a router.

Comprehende?

Sure you can but it's a pain in the ass, it's so fragile at any changes that I bought a good old cable that I can trust forever and don't need those extra configurations ...

well i have it and no problems so far, just be sure to have it protected unless if you want to show your neihgbour your pc files
anyway, if you want to connect only 2 pc's you can just use an old fashioned cable or a pci wi fi card (umm well two if you have two pc's)
but for my pc's you really need a router, as i said i have three computers at my home constantly linked and no problems, although the signal isn't at it's best when you're about three rooms away....
