Ebay are to ban "Multi-level Marketing, Pyramid, Matrix and Trading Schemes".
At last there will be an end to the listings being filled with "get a K700i for £20".
See the annoucement here: ***New Prohibited Items policy – Multi-level Marketing, Pyramid, Matrix and Trading Schemes ***

Sounds good but i am sure the ripoff merchants will come up with even more scams and tricks to cheat the honest consumer.

I do hope they do dissapear those stupid listings - thing is, people fall for it, or at least don't read listings properly. I've seen listings for P900s about to end with bids up to £150+ on them, then when I read the listing, it says in small letters at the bottom of a usually huge listing (with all the specs cut n pasted off SE's website) something about just info to get that phone for £20.

They'll just find a way round it, like those scammers who 'sell' feedback on Ebay by 'selling' jokes or pictures of something. Where there's muck, there's brass!

correct me if im wrong here but.......those auctions that say £20 for phones or whatever are already prohibited arent they?

whatever they do they can never stop scammers making auctions like that....i still see the same volume of scam auctions as i was seeing over a year ago? which means no change

the anonymity of online auctions means itll always be there..sadly

They probably have.... but they got round this by 'selling' something like a copied CD ebook or a signal booster, something like that, and say that the phone is a 'free gift' - which got round the ban! I paid £20 more through curiosity to one of these sites. I won't be getting the phone any time soon, not unless another 275 people sign up anyway! I certainly wasted that money!

As I say, I'll be glad when these things are banned totally. But I bet they'll find a way round it, as they must make a fortune
