This doesnt work on O2 UK btw.
I dont think it would be free because it still has to go through a certain server which will charge you.
Someone on Esato a while ago said change the gprs profile for mms to normal gprs and it will only charge 10p but that doesnt work either because it still goes through the server so they charge you.
Is this working for anyone apart from wm222002?
@wm222002, what network are you on?

I can send sms via gprs but they charge it to me as normal sms. In fact even beside I have free sms (100 monthly) they charge it even if I haven't spent all free smss. |

Sending SMS`s via GPRS works on my S700 on vodafone uk (unbranded). I dont know if i am being charged for them though as I am on contract and have only just tried it.
My O2 PAYG sim also allows me to send sms`s via gprs but i still get charged for it.
