Silvercrest bluetooth headset, ever heard of it? |
basoost Joined: Apr 15, 2004 Posts: 154 From: UK PM |
Hi, one of the local supermarkets is going to sell a "Silvercrest" Bleutooth headset for only EUR45. Has anyone ever heard/owned one of these and are they any good? It should be compatible with T6X0, PX00, Z600, T68(i), T39 and K700i.
This will most probably be a disguised set of another manufacturer, does anyone have any idea what the "real" manufacturer might be? (sorry, couldn't find a picture yet)

No dont think so.
Maybe you can be the first to give us a review on one if you buy it?

I'll try and do so, if I can get my hands on one. They sometimes sell out extremely fast (or bad supply/stock).
Will keep you posted. They will also be on offer in the UK and Germany (Lidl stores).

I'm also interested in this.
Weight is good: only 13 grams.
Standby time: 100 Hrs. This is not very good, but not very bad either.
I wonder about sound quality.
I'll buy one on Monday. If I don't like it, I can always return it to Lidl.

I have instead ordered this...

I like the styling better, and the specs are better (200 H standby), with that price (GBP 18/EUR26) I'm willing to take a risk

28.7 grams for the Abe headset?
No thank you.. Comfortable fit is very important.
200 Hrs standby is good though.
I hope you are happy with the Abe headset, because it will be quite a hassle to return it to the UK and get your money back.

I hope so too... but I've never had any problems with ordering/returning to the UK. I find their customer-service usually far better than any service I've seen in the Netherlands.
I had a question for CD WOW, sent mail at about 18:30, got a reply by 21:30. Dutch companies hardly ever reply the same day.... IF they bother to reply that is.

True for many Dutch websites.
But in this particular case, I can return the Bluetooth headset to Lidl, within 2 weeks, with or without packaging, and get my money back. No reason required.
Let's hope we're both satisfied with our purchase. I'll be back here on Monday. |

... with your new silvercrest bluetooth headset? Hope you like it, they usually sell good stuff at Lidl and have had no problems bringing stuff back to them that I didn't like.... but they're German, so maybe that's why?
I'll be curious to hear your opinions on the headset. The "Abe" headset has been dispatched, should be with me somewhere next week (depending on the mail, service has been crap here lately ). Will write a review when it gets here

Well, I've got the Silvercrest HS 2700BT Bluetooth headset now. Available from Lidl for EUR 44,99 .
First impression: looks good, no cheap build.
With only 13 grams, including battery, it weighs even less than the Bluespoon headsets. It fits perfectly and after I while I forgot I'm still wearing it.
Sound quality is good, though the volume is by default too low. I haven't figured out how to set the default volume louder. The highest volume is definitely loud, so in-car use is no problem.
The microphone is good and the amount of background noise is very low. The recording is a bit soft though. Should have been louder, I think, but no people have complained yet about not being able to understand me.
When my body is in between the headset and my P800, there are some digital cracks. When I put my p800 in my other pocket it is no problem.
I haven't tested standby time and talk time yet. The manual says 100 hours standby, 4.5 hours talk time. When this will turn out not to be true, I'll report it here.
And now for the big drawback, which disappointed me really:
In combination with the SE P800 and P900 some functions on the headset do NOT work:
- Reject a call
- Switch call from headset to phone
- Voice dailling
- Repeat dial number
With other phones these functions DO work. I don't know why, but there seems to be an incompatibility with Symbian phones?
For P800/P900 users this would be a good reason not to purchase this headset.
All in all, good value for money, if you don't own a P800 / P900.

Hi Gaston, thanks for the excellent review. 13 grams is practically nothing indeed. I'm glad I didn't get it now, because i wouldn't like to miss voice dialling with my P800, very strange it doesn't work though :s
I'm extremely curious to find out how my "Abe" headset will perform, will keep you posted.

Actual standby time of the Silvercrest headset turned out to be 130 hours (including some 20 minutes of use).
Bas, how is your Abe headset?
