Hi To All

Before I start I will apologise if I should have posted this in another part of the forum. I have been looking at the various posts with great interest over the past 3-4 weeks and now I have my K700i phone I have a couple of questions someone may be able to help me with.

1) I bought a second hand O2 branded K700i & the buyer told me that I could use any sim card with this phone as O2 do not lock their phones. This must be true as I have been using my Vodafone pay as you talk sim card in it with no problems, ok?
But since I have been looking at esato I have decided I want to upgrade the firmware to R2L (currentlu R2A041) so I have looked in the service menu for the Firmware type and noticed a section called SIMLOCK?? I went into this and it has 4 titles : Network, Network Subset, Service Provider & Corporate. Each title had a unlocked padlock and the number 5 next to it. Does anyone know what this means? Is it locked or unlocked??

2) I have just ordered a T28 unlocking cable and a credit from faceoff as I want to debrand my phone from O2 (back to how SE intended, I hope). I have seen several posts about older versions & newer versions of the total server software and also posts about R2L & R2AA firmware updates & the problems people have had with them.

What would I be better off doing?? a) some one has a post with a link to an older version of the total server software (1.27) and the R2L firmware and lang files etc. Use that?? Or go to the total server site and use the newer version of their software (1.32) and the R2AA firmware and its associated files??

And when I do update the firmware will I need to unlock the phone?? (I suppose this depends on what the simlock settings mean i.e Network, Network Subset, Service Provider & Corporate. Each each title had a unlocked padlock and the number 5 next to it)

I hope someone can shed some light on this for me.

I think my head is going to pop with the amount of firmware posts etc I have read over the past 3-4 weeks.

Thannks
