Bluetooth Error - BTStack Server failed to start! |

I've got 3 PC's, all running bluetooth no problem. I'm using MSI bluetooth dongles running MSI 1.3.1 drivers. Two are running Win2000 pro, without any problem, the other is on XP pro SP2, again without any problems.
However, I've got a fourth PC, that just doesnt want to work. I'm using exactly the same model of MSI bluetooth dongle, exactly the same drivers, plus its exactly the same Windows XP with SP2.
There is no intervention with the SP2 bluetooth drivers as far as I can see. I've renamed bth.inf and .pif anyway, just to be sure. I've reinstalled the drivers 3 times now, each time with the same problem. They 'sort of' work. I can do a file transfer sometimes, but usually when I start up, after about 5 minutes I get a message saying 'Failed to start BTStack server.exe'. Also, there are random slowdowns. These go away when I remove the bluetooth software.
I'm 100% certain there is no spyware, virus etc on the machine. I've used Adaware, AVG, MKS_Vir, ADS View, and CWS Shredder, all turning up nothing. I've stripped the load up list using Hijak This to the bare minimum (before reinstalling the bluetooth drivers).
I've reinstalled all my PCI to USB bridge drivers, and checked every other driver on the system is up to date.
I've tried turning Windows Firewall off.
Has anyone got any ideas why its not working, cause apart from reinstalling sp2, or even XP, I'm kind of stumped. | |

Perhaps it would be an idea to download and install the Widcomm 1.4.3.4 drivers. See my Bluetooth post:

Hmm. Iv'e got an early MSI dongle, so it wont work with newer drivers. I havent got a Hex Editor on this machine either to make the drivers work.
Its strange because I have 2 PC's running exactly the same copy of XP (different licences of course) with the exact same updates etc. They have the same software installed and I'm using the same dongles, drivers etc.
Just one is not playing ball. I'm wondering if there is a conflict somewhere, but this computer WAS working a while ago. Its just recently started all this messing up. |
