O2 handset upgrades - do they want a handset for p/x? |

Basically, my contract with O2 is up next month, and I was wondering if I had to hand in the handset that I originally had when I took out the contract in part exchange if I renew my contract?
In other words, I got a Nokia 3200 (which I have since sold on) upon starting the contract, and if I renew for another year will O2 want me to hand back the 3200 which I no longer have, in order for me to get the handset upgrade?
This is perhaps a silly question but I just want to clarify.

The short answer, mate, is no, you don't have to hand it back, though there is sometimes a discount off the upgrade if you do.
After the 12 months are up, the phone is yours (or whoever you sold it to!) |

@anyone - Is this the same for all UK networks?

afaik, yes - i have never been asked to hand back the phone at the end of a 12 month contract...though as dave said, you can get discount if you trade-in
