possible to update firmware on total server for free after debranding it? |

hello. now that i have updated my phone and debranded the k700 from vodafone, i just like to ask this:
i am well aware that it will not now be possible to update your phone in the future using the official sony erricson site.
now some people say on this forum that they are not worried because they can update it free on the total server site after debranding it by just selecting the new firmware.
however, i emailed total server team to ask if this is true and they replied this:
"yes you can update your phone to the latest firmware if it comes out in the future for free, but you must update the language and costumization again, therefore you must not use the frmware on its own"
so what is the point in that???? why disable the phone from using it on the SE service and not update on the total server??? WHY state in the help section of the program that "you can update the firmware with out using any credits"??? surely people may update the phone without knowing that u gotta use the lang and cosumization files and end up with a broken phone??? it doesnt say anything like this on the program help. i was going to do it myself as soo n as the new firmware comes up, but i asked questions on these forums and emailed them to make sure. i made the right choice doing so but i still feel disapointed that they wont let you do continuous updates for free after debranding it. frankly, the r2aa0003 firmware isnt perfect still as it still hasnt muted the camera sound, and browsing thru pictures is painfully slow.
maybe you COULD update the firmware without using the lang and costum files?? mayb they didnt understand me when i emailed them....may be people had success when updating their phone...
i ask anyone who had experinced this to tell me if you have to pay for the update even tho u previously debranded the phone because of the costumization and lang files.

How could you expect free future updates from totalserver after only paying 1 or 2 credits for your unbranding? It makes absolutely no sense. |

well. then why does it say you can. and why disable the update service because its on r2aa0003? now THAT makes absolutely no sence. and also, i havent got the dss sync station thing so all my hopes were destroyed to find out that i cant use the t28 unlock cable to update firmware...

PHONE FIRMWARE UPGRADE (ITs FREE, No credits needed)
1. select 'upgrade/language' TAB menu.
2. select FIRMWARE File for your phone and press FLASH button.
wouldnt this confuse people into thinkin that itll work??? u no, i bet it WILL work . i jus odont wanna risk it thats all.

This has already been disccuessed several times.......
For the phone to be correctly upgraded you need to flash all three files.
Firmware, language and customisation.
What the program states is true, its free to flash the firmware file, but to UPGRADE your phone properly it will cost you a credit!
It was set to be free to flash the firmware file because that is needed to de-brand the phones!
Thats just how the system works.
They have gone back to R2L on totalserver now, that might let you use SE online update again like it did previously, who knows.
All i know is mine works fine with SE online update after de-branding with R2L a month or so ago.

thanks alot. but there no use seein that i gotta pay to down-grade it....
r2aa0003 is better than the r2l, cos the menu is slicker. i jus wished, it had faster photo browsing capabilities.
