The K700i costs Rs.17,500(around a month back). THe S700i presently costs Rs.30,000. The price of S700i is supposed to drop in a few days time.

17k with bill and warranty? Or is the grey market price?
Also, how is the reception of the K700i compared to that of the T230 and K500?
People seem to be praising the camera of the K700i. Is it that much better than the K500i's?
I plan to use the phone to run some "serious" midlets. Should I stick with K500i instead as I don't plan to use snazzy features such as the camera and video recording!?
Thanks in advance for the help! |

Thanks,
if i buy it from the grey market, will the SE service centre still perform firmware updates?
Also, any idea on the RF performance compared to the T230 and T6xx series? From what I infer, the RF performance of the K500 and the K700i are the same.

Anand, Go for the k700 . You will have to pay for fw updates from se service center if you buy from grey. Rf Performance of k7and k5 are much better than t6xx and 230s

Thanks for the prompt responses!
I just wanted to know another thing. I've heard that the K700i is slower than the K500 while playing games. (There is a thread in Esato itself, but the last person to post stated that a firmware upgrade simply made games less jerky!)
Any idea if this is true? It seems so odd to find the K700i being outperformed by its younger sibling!

Anand,k7s was released much earlier than k5,so se had a lot of time for polishing k5,but k7 initial fws was a bit of kneejerk, belive me ,se will give much more support for k7,they will improve the fw , they will not want a lower class (lower in sense that lower than k7) phone to out perform thier costlier phones like k7. And additional memory will really pay off

Thanks Shyam,
You’ve really been extraordinarily helpful
Vineet, I shall start paying the Indian forums a visit soon! I'm from Bombay too and was wondering whether you've used your phone in the local trains! (PS - Are you an orange subscriber?)
Regards.
