usb port not recognize |

hiya
just got my fab P910I but i can't get it to sync cause my computer won't recognize my docking station
my phone connection link in the system tray says i my com 1 and com 2 is not connected!!! and there's no known phone to be recognize
ive uninstalled and installed it twice but nothing works pls help do i need to get another new usb cable and if so which one

That's supposed to be COM port 3 i believe .
Cause that's what i'm using. Check in Device Manager whether COM3 exists and try using that. Hope this helps.

hiya
thanks for replying. and yes i do have an com 3 but it has an yellow exclaimation mark next to it.
but i don't get it, how can i have 3 coms if i only have 2 usb ports.
also its says there's no driver install for this com but it won't let me install anything
is it the fact im using xp have anything to do with it

COMM ports are serial ports (RSS.... cant remeber), usually a new computer has 1 (sometimes none), becasue there are less and less serial devices these days, but a old computer may have 2 becuase they were more common back then. But, some devices, ie. IrDa USB devices and USB devices assign themselves COMM ports (virtual)... thats what your sync station's doing!
eg. I have no Real COMM ports but Virtual Serial Port 7 on my laptop becuase I needed to assign my Infrared port a COMM port!

update your xp to sp2 and it will work

click on COM3 which has the yellow exclamation mark and find out what error it is. Maybe you have a bad USB port/cable. You can try installing a driver for it by clicking on the driver tap and choose "update driver" , and point it to the driver CD.
There is no reason why it wouldn't work on XP.
