New R2Y001 firmware on K700 from orange uk ! |

I friend of mine has just had their K700i replaced by Orange Care after they managed to destroy the screen. He was very pleased with himself when he showed me his software info. page.
The firmware said R2Y001!
I haven't heard of this version yet, does anyone know anything about it, whether it is any better than R2L and if it is online with Sony Ericsson? |

Tell him to try the phonebook search and find out if it supports more than one character!

It is actually R2Y005. And its right infront of me now. I've tried the phonebook search and it supports multiple characters. So it is definately a new firmware! Does anybody have any more info on its features? |

Was R2AA not taken back due to problems ?? so this may be the next firmware.
Orange firmware now match the rest of the other R2L. So i wouldnt have thought that they would have changed it again.
Vodafone never kepr there firmware in line with the T610 so i wouldnt have thought they would do it now.
The online server is down at the min, does anyone know when it will be back up ?? |

I've read, that orange maybe change their branding to allow the "More"-button. How is it in this firmware-version?

Well, it's confirmed. My replacement handset arrived today, complete with R2Y005.
No 'More' button, but address book searching works a treat. |

Anyone know if it's on the online update service yet?
I had to borrow my mate's P900 cradle (DSS-25) to perform the upgrade to the Orange R2L a few weeks ago (Orange shop and SE Service Center were no help at all!)
Is the camera sound still compulsory in the new firmware? |

I have just tried the update service again and now i get the error message, Your opperator no longer supports this service.
This was not the case last week ??
I manage to update 3 of my friends phones before the sercive went down and all was succesful, All on orange and we are all now on R2L.
But im not sure when the service ill be back up again?? |

hmm, even with ringtone volume at 0 and silent mode on the camera still plays the shutter sound. used to be that setting volume to 0 would mute it, seems odd that they'd change this. |

This happened to me as well when going from Orange R2C to R2L
I think it's due to a law whereby phone manufacturers are supposed to stop people being able to take "secret" pictures of people.
A bit silly since digital cameras don't have the same restriction, and nowadays most mobile phones with cameras make it obvious that there is a camera on them.
