right at the top of the phonenext to the powere button.

Welcome here! Its on the left side on the upper apart of the cover at the top. The plastic is a bit thinner there for an effective usage.

Because the plastic is thin at the top so the infrared (electromagnetic) can pass through it.

why, do you find this a problem?

Lost Angle style post but who cares

I posted this in another topic a while ago.

The ir port is basically where the rectangle is, below the case.

[edit]The infrared signals can pass throught he lens.

I've got a laptop and no room on my desk. With my SE T300, I could set the phone next to the infrared on the computer and have them parallel. Now, I have to point the phone at it funny and take up more space.

Ah, well. It's a really cool phone, quite a step up from the T300, especially in the display.
