****Flashing Experience****

Ok Guys, I got a T28 service cable and a credit for multiserver off the same site (faceoffmobiles).. about £20 for both, and low and behold, after following all the instructions on totalserver.net it doesnt work.
I press flash and it asks me to turn the phone on - so I turn it on.

then it sits there...

still asking me to turn on the phone...

nothing more...

When I email the bloke all I get is rude replies treating me like some sort of retarded idiot, surely thats not how you treat paying customers?
So here's a word of advice for anyone wanting to uncustomise their K700i in the UK - DON'T BOTHER WITH TOTALSERVER OR FACEOFFMOBILES.

welcome,

try plugging the cable in when it says Press ON in the phone or putting the battery in the phone (instead of pressing ON)... It may help.

If not you have wrong cable or you COM port is not working the way it should... try on the other computer.

Anway there are some issues with TS at the moment and maybe it is better for you that you are not able to decustomize...

Take care

Well, it does work, as I used it for the first time successfully on Monday. Worked 1st time with no problems.

When it says turn on the phone, DON'T do a normal press & hold for 2 seconds to turn on the phone, just press the on button once, firmly, but VERY briefly, like for less than half a second.

Still same, tried both of the above suggestions
I've even formatted my laptop to try it from a fresh version of windows with SP1 - still the same.
Total Multiserver won't even run at all on my Athlon 64 - i simply get the 'send error report to microsoft' dialog when trying to start the program up.

i had the same problem as you do, sporkguy. i have an athlon 64 as well and when i tried to run multiserver for the first time, i had the same error screen as you have. i downloaded all previous versions of total multiserver and they all had the same problem. but the next day i istalled win xp 64bit edition on a seperate partition and when i logged on to the normal win xp to check some things, total multiserver was working! i dont know why..i hope that helps a bit

Hi m8,

Sorry you seem to be having problems debranding. It seems FaceOff have sent out an incorrectly wired batch of T28 cables.

Quote somersetdude:

"Wow Wow i solved my mystery non working cable.

Turns out the cable Face off sent was incorrectly wired. After looking through the forums i checked the pinouts on the cable sent to me and mine had a wired soldered to pin5 and not Pin7 !!!!
Resoldered and Hey Presto Total Server sprang into action."

Have a look at this thread (pages 34, 35 & 36) and also this link (click on pics for close-up).

Hope this is of some help,

Cheers,

Col.

Well it seems they're sending me out a new cable, so I don't have to try and solder the thing myself (I don't have a steady hand lol).

Thanks for the help.
