Just a quick question.
Is there a way of adding your own animation to the phone texts?

Doesn't the K700 allow access to user defined folders, which in theory could contain a Gif?

Precisely!
Has anybody been able to do this or make up their own?

I haven't tried, but wouldn't the recipient of the message have to support the animation you send?

As long as the recipients phone supports animation then it should recognise what you are sending and put it's own animation in the message received. Sent the devil (prior to my firmware upgrade when I had it) to my other halfs v525 and her own devil animation was shown in the message received.
