Hello everybody,

I started this thread to clear up and share our experiences and opinions about unofficial SE unlocking/flashing solutions. In last few weeks we have seen lot of threads about debranding, unlocking and flashing SE phones especially K700, K/F500 and S700 (may expect more in upcoming month with new releases - V800 comes first of my mind). I would really like to hear opinions from Cytech, Masseur, Mike and others that are more experienced (sorry if I didn't mention someone and if I misspelled any name), but also from people that used some solution for the first time with their current phone (as I did).

There are quite a few solutions on a market. Which one have you used? Why? Why not? Are you satisfied with result/support? Do you think SE should try to stop them or to support them?

I would also like to hear why did you choose to loose you virgin... ups warranty? Also (maybe Cytech or someone else) can give us in depth explanation of IMEI, Firmware files, Language Packs, Customization Files, CDA Number that is used to determine if you can use SE US and how are they all connected to each other... Of course we don't want to hear any secrets form SE (don't we;-) )...

This is what I did: I used a solution few days ago... I debranded one F500i and flashed to K500 R2AA software... Am happy with it although I lost the warranty. I didn't unlock the phone.

But I couldn't sleep well and I decided to play with my K700i... So debranded it a few times (although it was unbranded), I flashed different firmware, language packs and customizations just to learn more. I found a way to still use SE US after debranding with one solution that didn't to allow it in the latest version... In the end I decided (OH NO) to flash my K700 with S700 files and see what I will get and how much support I will get from solution providers... I was aware that I will kill my phone... I was able to flash back K700 files, but destroyed my GDFS files, so my IMEI changed to 099912345... And I had all locks closed and 0 by them. From one solution provider I didn't get any answer till today and from the other I was told that I need to repair my GDFS, but that they don't currently have solution for that. I DID IT JUST TO LEARN DIFFERENT SOLUTIONS AND SE.

I got another K700 while waiting for a solution for my K700 (maybe I should take it to official Service Center and show them the warranty )... The other K700 had R2A firmware and I tried to update it through SE US and I couldn't (Your operator... message, although I have bought it free at official SE store). I decided to take it to official Service Center and asked them to debrand my unbranded phone and let me use SE US as they should... (I asked about R2AA EMEA2 and they said that SE removed it from EMMAII for unknown reason). They unbranded it in most interesting way... As they explained it this way (quote): There is no free software for Croatian market (I would like to hear Cytech opinion about this) so they used the one from Oskar (Checz provider) and now I can use SE US and all the functionalities from free phone (including My Friends), but if I do Master reset I will get all Oskar Data accounts and Internet profiles (nothing else)... I find this very interesting...

Please don't use this thread for asking about any solution or how to do something. USE IT TO SHARE YOUR VISION AND EXPERIENCES.
Sorry for the long post, take care and think before you do it!

Velimir

Just go to your service point.

Here in The Netherlands SonyEricsson is not as bad as Samsung if we compare those two with there waranty.

A friend of me bought a T-Mobile T610 with a contract. Then he unlocked his phone, made some firmware changes, and after a while he even transformed his T610 into a T630 (other display, PCB board and housing).

Then, not because of the transformation, the T610 (@T630) died. We transformed the T630 back into a T610. Downgraded also the firmware (still possible), and sended it to SonyEricsson repair station.

Two week later: A total new SonyEricsson T610 was delivered!!!

So, maybe you can try the same. Just don't say anything about dropping your phone, or flashing it. They maybe will repair it for you or maybe like they did to my friend, swap it for a total new one.

TotalServer, Griffin and unibox are generally known as the better options. The others such as davinci are cheats who copy the work of totalserver and therefore don't pay for original solutions and dont offer great support like totalserver.
You will come accross on this forum the likes of faceoffmobiles and irwebonline that are in contact with the totalserver owner on a daily basis so get to know whats happening with the project in terms of updates and possible problems. Is it worth skimping on a few quid and risk killing your phone. OK so you may be able to get it replaced if you kill it but is it worth it ?

@vee i dont think u wanna hear the mods opinion, u should better delete this thread, at least the rename it and delete your first post! There are enough warez sites u can ask it, sorry, but u make with such posts a bad image to esato. Just a thought.

Maybe I was not clear... I don't care for destroying my phone. I did it and it is over... I am more interested in your opinion of using or not using unofficial solutions... And why?

Why would I make bad reputation for Esato? I just wanted a discussion about something. If mods want to delete I don't mind.
But why not discussing it?

If someone asks I would say don't play and loose your warranty. Always use SE SC. But I wanted to learn some stuff and I did. I am not going to take my killed phone back to SE because I killed it and wouldn't be fair to ask for solution from them.

Thanks

Velimir

There are diplomatic "ways" to discuss Unofficial solutions, not in the public.

@ bobafett

so all the other threads about how to buy this credit or how to debrand my phone or software release at that server are OK, but my thread with general discussion about unofficial solution is NOT OK?

I don't understand, English is not my primary language, but please read again what I wrote in the first post.

If anyone is offended I am sorry.

Velimir

I had read it 3 times before i wrote. We all come in touch on some way with such kind of solutions and there some threads where those are mentioned, but i dont think its a good idea to advertise and discuss it in one special thread. Btw your eng is pretty good.

boba excuse my french but seeing as you yourself 'advertised' such a solution for debranding T610 models and alike, I dare say it is fairly hypocritical of you to not condone this guy.

I'm sure if the topic is deemed improper for esato standards, laffen or a mod will take action when they see it.

Untill then let's roll

Vlammetje u are right, but the is a difference to del pre items and make a thread for all kind of unofficial ways. As i wrote, we all, me incl, come in touch with such things, but a thread dedicated to it isnt very welcome imo.

Look... People are using those solutions and there are lot of threads about it here at Esato... My intention was to let people decide if they want to use it or not from experience and advicer of others incl. Mods. They must be aware that they are breaking their warranty and what damage they can do to their phone. But it is their free will to do it. I dont see any advertisments in this thread. And I dont see anyone saying YES YOU USE IT IT IS GREAT.

The title of thread is a kind of adv already. As vlammetje wrote, the mods have the right to judge, i wrote just my opinion.

yes and you wrote 'just your opinion' about 7 times already. I think everybody gets it. Sorry for being blunt but you're bringing the whole thing off topic

Vee

I had a long battle with vodafone about branding and crippling at the highest level (Director of Customer Service) and still they would not listen. So, I followed your experiences, hints and advice in the other thread and it gave me the confidence to try unbranding my voafone k700i.

I went for the TotalServer/Faceoff solution. I read and re-read all the advice, then finally plucked up the courage to plug my cable in and hit 'flash'. It worked like a dream, first time. The best thread I ever found.

Unlocked my F500i (vodafone Sweden) via Davinci server. I was gonna use Davinci to flash and debrand to but for me it was too confusing and i was not shure on what files i needed . Did not get any answers when i mailed for support.

Instead i bought some credits on totalserver and in two easy steps my phone is now a K500! Nothing left from vodafone Live!.

One dissapointment:

Can no longer change resolution to 176x220 for games. That is for me a BIG downer..

BUT, the phone is so much better in all now, so it was worth it anyway!

My PC use XP pro SP2. No problems at all.

1 credit used at Davinci
1 credit used at Totalserver.
