I have a real need to have Bluetooth enabled on my T68i - between synchronizing my contacts and SMSs to sending and receiving things between the phone and laptop. Since I got my T68i about 10 days ago until now, I have had Bluetooth off all the time and only enable it when I need to use it. As you can imagine this can be quite a pain. My question is this: will leaving Bluetooth enabled on the phone all the time (for reasons of practicality) significantly lessen the phone's efficiency with battery consumption? Will it totally kill the battery? Any help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks,
Mimzo

Leaving bluetooth on all the time drains the battery like there is no tommorow, if you have a spare battery handy then leave the bluetooth on all the time then.

You can leave it on if you have a Bluetooth handsfree, Bluetooth is still pretty low power consumption - supposedly less power than infrared (but there's little point having infrared on all the time).

Unless you don't go home (to recharge) every other day, it's not too bad.

Once I left Bluetooth on continously for a whole day without realising it. When I switched it off, I noticed no difference at all on the remaining battery life. Therefore, as far as I am concerned its alright to leave the bluetooth on all the time as power consumption is pretty low.

Ive been leaving Bluetooth on continuously for the past couple of days as a test. I use it with my laptop. I have to say I haven't noticed much of a change in battery consumption... nothing out of the ordinary at least.

Well, just leaving Bluetooth on all the time doesn't use much battery. My phone when fully charged with bluetooth off has a standbytime (in the status menu) 270-280h. With bluetooth on all the time I get about 210-230h standbytime.

But when you use bluetooth it eats alot more power. For example if you connect to internet through bluetooth and GPRS that eats quite alot of battery. But even then it's better than IR, and I think the power consumption with bluetooth internet connection and with a cable internet connection is about the same.

I have bluetooth always enabled.

Is Automatic setting only available when using Bluetooth SE Headsets along with SE T68i?

My Automatic setting does not work for my 3Com Bluetooth PC Card.

I've never noticed much difference having bluetooth turned on all the time.

There is a chart showing the power consumption going about.
