Go to any java game or app and click more, than permissions, and then go to multimedia and click info. Is it really possible that Java app have access to phone's multimedia files??? And even it is possible, where are those apps that can do that??? Just think about it a little: mp3, pic, video editer on your K700! WOW! What do you think?

If it is possible, than... WOW, we wouldn't need Symbian!

yes it would be great. But stuff like picture editing and mp3 editing, would need quite a good app, which would take up a fair amount of space on the phone. Also more phones are getting symbion now, so developers are more likly to concentrate on making symbion apps.

Even with lots of symbian phones, there´s much more, and there will be during the next years, java phones (they´re cheaper), so there´s a huge market for java devellopers.

Plus, midp 2.0 it´s a much more powerfull base for making every kind of apps than midp 1.0. I don´t think java will be let down in the next years.

Sooner good midp 2.0 apps should be launched, just like the 3d java games.

My only complain about the k700 is the lack of bt and ir support in java...i´m hopping SE will correct this via firmware upgrade, because users and programers demand it

My F500i has the same options, allowing or prohibiting multimedia access...

Can any of you clarify with absolute certainty what this option is specificaly for or does anyone know of any Java games or applications that make use of multimedia access?

There is definately proof this can be done. i had a t610 with a game called puzzle slider on it, this was a basic sliding square game but you could use the pics that u had on your phone to jumble up as a puzzle. shame they didnt take it further

Multimedia access means access to the phone's camera and voice recorder. As of now there is no java application(or phone for that matter) which can access the phone memory. Dunno if its a limitation with java programming or something else but it just has not been done and that is what makes symbian far superior to java.
