The Sharp GX25 is a lightweight Bluetooth-capable handset, exclusive to the Vodafone network, weighing just 90 grams but features Sharp's highly regarded 240x320 pixel 262,000 colour TFT display.

In many ways the GX25 is an upgrade to the GX20 and GX10i models. At the time of going to press, we believe that the GX25 has a VGA-resolution camera with a flash and night mode, like the GX20, and it also features tri-band GSM, GPRS, video capture, Java, polyphonic ringtones, infra-red and USM connectivity, MMS messaging PC synchronisation and pretty much all of the other GX20 features - in fact, the only thing missing is the GX20's 80x60 pixel external colour display, as the GX25 has a small 72x12 pixel monochrome display.. but the plus point is that this helps bring the GX25's weight down to 90 grams from 102 grams.

OK, from that description you might think that the GX25 is actually a cut-down GX20, but the GX25 also has Bluetooth (at the time of press believed to be an unrestricted implementation), an email client and enhanced XHTML web browser.

Physically, the GX25 measures 92x46x23.5mm and weighs just 90 grams, making it one of the smallest Bluetooth handsets on the market. Talk time is up to 3.5 hours with around 10 days standby. The black and silver casing is a departure from Sharp's all silver design, and the overall look and feel reminds us of some of the Japanese Sharp handsets we've seen recently.

Sharp are busy expanding their range in Europe at the moment, with the GX15 being recently released, and the anticipated GX40 phone (thought to be the first 2 megapixel GSM handset) along with the rumoured GX50 3G phone (possibly based on the Japanese Sharp 802SH or 902SH handsets), and also the rumoured GX30i enhancement to the existing class-leading Sharp GX30. Sharp handsets are highly regarded by their owners, and with good reason.

Perhaps the GX25 isn't a groundbreaking phone in terms of features, but it's significantly better than most of the competition, and should be a boost to both Sharp and Vodafone.

Looks like quite a nice phone, except for all that stupid vodafone branding!

It would be nicer if it was available sim-free and unbranded.

I think Sharp would shift alot more handsets if they didn't restrict their handsets to voda only, they make decent phones!

They have probably got some sort of longerm deal with vodafone, it was with a Sharp that they launched their live! service. They do make good phones.
