As long as you have firmware revision R2V then the answer is yes. |

The Z1010 (Voda) has the same problem, no MP3 as ring tones...
is this a solution for the Z1010 allso ?
or do i need to reflash the phone with the original firmware..

The DRM packager can be found the developer world section of the SE website, however you must be registered in order to downlaod it. |

Did download the packager to convert MP3's...
The converter, converts the file and i'm able to transfer it to the phone using a bluetooth adapter in my pc (send-file)
(Im unable to do drag and drop, it wont recognize the file then..)
The converted file is transfered and yes now it has a KEY to the left of the name and i can play it back as before.........
Still i can't select it as a ringtone ! So i assume the Z1010 (Voda) needs to be unocked and flashed with sony-ericssons firmware to get the MP3's to work as ring tones..
Or is it a special setting to be done in the SE DRMpackager ?

@smittan
The first revision of Vodaphone's K700 firmware also refused to allow DRMed MP3s as ringtones, but this was fixed in R2V. Perhaps you need to update the firmware of your Z1010 to the latest revision?
Unfortunately I am not as knowledgable on Z1010 firmware releases as I am with the K700 / T610, as I have never owned the phone, so I can't give tyou a definitive answer.

Hi all,
The download of the DRM Packager Tool seems to have disappeared from the Developer World website. If anyone has a copy and could email it to me, I would be most grateful - please PM me if you do.
TIA

what do you think it should do?
Open DRM packager on your PC Create a .dm file (=protected MP3 file) on your PC
Put in on your phone
Set it as ringtone.

MY Z1010 can use ANY MP3 file as a ring or alarm tone, although my F500i (the vodafone live! version of the K500i) can't...

kilwani I think it is important that you open the DRM packager first and look at it. You cannot 'insert' anything.
You want to put MP3 files so you browse to the MP3 file you want to protect.
Specify an 'output' folder (this is where the DRM packager will store your output (the .dm file)
Then you click 'protect'
It isn't hard and this is about as detailed as it gets
