http://www.mess.be have mirrors listed for the msn7 beta. I personally can't see enough changes in it to justify it being version 7, and think it should be 6.3

So what are the changes between the current release and V.7?

I've never seen the point in MSN messenger when windows messenger does all I need. I hate loading extra apps and avoid it when neccessary.
the only thing making me think of getting msn messenger now is that since XP SP2 it no longer shows me how many new hotmail messages I have and the add on no longer works. Indeed it now only thinks my inbox is my outlook box
So, it might be worth checking out this latest version of MSN messenger

If you are gonna upgrade from windows messenger, i'd suggest the official release of 6.2 instead of this beta. Because it still does have a lot of bugs in it.
Main differences are the all new annoying nudge feature that shakes the window around like crazy and makes a ring ring noise so you can grab the attention of the person who you are talking to, and a new winks thing. That are flash animations that fill the chat screen making it hard to see what convo is going on for about 15seconds

you're probably right. I don't like betas on my main pc either.
I've got the latest yahoo messenger and that has the buzzer/shaker thing which I quite like as it scares the .... out of my wife when I do that!

@ masseur..
u can disable that
go to main messenger window >> messenger >> prefernces...
sounds and alerts and messages option ought to do the trick....
in messages, 'when i recieve a new message' should be in 'minimise to taskbar' to avoid that shaking.. the bar just turns orange after that...
(p.s it is not everyday i get to do this...) |

oi! no he didn't!
in summary, he was discussing how he never saw the need for MSN messenger but was considering giving this beta a try (on topic conversation) but accepted a suggestion to not take the beta but to take the latest official version
relevant comments stating some differences between that and v7 (your thread topic) were then mentioned followed by a passing comment of how one of those different features was already being used for fun by me in another messenger product
phew! I think I got out of that one
oh well... please do continue

You're not supposed to follow the screen with your eyes!
*nudge*
i like V7 for the nudges... they're quite usefull for me because I am using a (self-amended ) windows skin which does not show which MSN window is activated.... so people nudge a lot when I don't respond imediately
In 4 days it has only crashd once on me, when loading it the first time.... so I'm not terribly dissatisfied.
The winks are rather useless though and very annoying when the convo continues behind them
Apart from that it seems very much the same?
I like how it displays the last used smilies (yes I'm a smilie freak )
