if anyone released this phone, there would be no need for other phones, ergo, the phone companies would have stopped producing phones, and that is not an option for them...

Im sure the px could play any video, isnt it just a software driver issue? i know you cant install windows media player on it but it cant be THAT hard to design, its probably more of a rights issue with microsoft.

@Greggy,
1MB is way too small for videos - maybe you mean 1GB. In order to really appreciate a fully functional video player you probably need a large screen or a video output port.

Oh yes a phone like that will come, maybe soon, but even soon is too late for the advancing pc market. They will be much, much further and then you want a phone who supports those new features.

Come to think of it, even high-end video players don't play all video formats. It's probably a hardware/software/price/demand/practicality issue, so it must be the same with phone manufacturers. In their point of view, even if they could the question is should they?

i doubt if one can call them phones, they will be part of a convergence device, a multipurpose handheld device that can compute, as well as make calls.
else, the industry will have to adopt a standard so that all phones of the present can play video clips. |

There will never be such an industry standard, all the phones would basically be the same, and there would be no choice for the consumer. A downloadable software app is the answer, im pretty sure its all software related.
