How can I make these active links instead of just text?

You can also have true hyperlinks using the "url" code. Just use the following format:
url=http://www.totalgeek.org]totalgeek.org[/url
but put [] at each end...
click BBcode for more info (above the link for smilies )
for example if u wanted an active link for esato u would do this.
url=http://www.esato.com/board]ESATO[/url
ESATO would be the link.. u just copy the whole thing into ur signature

for example, the links in my signature look like this...
[url=http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/0007126972/qid=1084083995/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_2_1/026-9316434-6834065]...Unless I'm very much mistaken[/url]

If you edit your posts the sig text changes to just normal text, so images appear.
I always delete the sig gumph if i edit my post though.

Yes, it would seem that the BB code works... I thought I had tried that at some point, but I guess I was mistaken.

I prefer my sig to stay dynamic so if i change it, it'll change on all my posts, and you'll never see an old sig

yes.
if you edit your post the text/images/links that make up your signature will be considered 'part of your post' instead of a separate signature. That is why the image becomes visible
edit....... i wonder if it is possible on this forum at all to make the signature remain signature and not part of the post when editing?

But isn't it rather cumbersome to follow this practice?
