Orange network problems today? |

My K700i says 'SIM inactive' after about 30 seconds of switching it on. The customer services line is down with an apologetic recorded message. Anyone else have this? (South West London)

Yeah the network was down for a few seconds.
After a reboot everything is fine.

My Orange payg sim (which was in an elderly 3330) threw up 'sim card registration failed', which scared me as I thought the phone (which was second hand) had suddenly been blocked!
After turning the phone off then back on again it was fine though, sounds like it was nationwide!

All good now. I wonder what the problem was. |

The problem was due to a Faulty HLR, home locating register, basically your phone maybe registered anywhere in the country on the network but pick up signal from your local transmitter. So in this case the issue was with a HLR in the south of england near brighton i believe, and with that effect all the phone using this HLR that maybe anywhere in the country where effectively temporarily not on the orange network.
The downtime was between 1 min and 4 hours depending on accounts.
Hope this helps

I'm in North London and have no problems at all. Using k700 on Orange.
