there are a lot of free on-line tutorials for Flash from basics to advanced ActionScripting. just search. the basic tutorial that came when you install it is a very comprehensive one too. better start with that and try to get the feel of the windows, pallettes, tools, etc. under Help menu you can find Lessons and Tutorials. just try them

I wouldn't recommend using flash. It's crap, and many ppl have it disabled on their machines, personally i never bother with any website as soon as i see it start to open a .swf file. Just my opinion of course, but i know many others do the same.

A whole load of documentation is here.
Basic animation in Flash is actually quite straightforward. Its when you want to start making complex interactive things using ActionScript that it starts to get a bit mind-bending! |

More people have the flash plugin installed on their pootas than java. 100% of fact
I can't stand websites which are 100% made in flash, cos most of them are complete pap. Same goes for intros on websites. I don't want to sit there downloading a 1meg file thats only so big because it's got a whole mp3 in thats not compressed properly

Totally agree with MixiN.
Flash sucks, when you want something fast and usable.
Nothing like good old HTML, JavaScript/JScript/VBScript...
(I think even .NET sucks for some things that don't need it...)
If flash was good, Ebay would use it, Amazon would use it, Yahoo would use it, etc...

I have a plug-in for it, i just have it disabled, i also have java and javascript disabled, i only enable them if i REALLY need to. For example, ebay use loads of javascript, but the site still works completely fine without js. So why waste all the time downloading and interpreting it all lol.

Well, i don't know what browser you are using, because i can't disable javascript.
I think you are mixed up here. Java is not the same as Javascript...
And ebay uses a lot of javascript (or any other scripting language for that matter)

@krubach no i'm not mixed up, and trust me, its very very unlikely that you use the same browser as me, but of the three browsers i use regularly they all have separte options to disable javaSCRIPT, and ebay works fine on all three with it disabled (in fact it works much quicker). I always assumed you could do the same on windoze browsers, but i haven't used netscrap or ie for years so i dunno a lot about them.

I think Flash is a good software as long as you know when and how to use them. People who say Flash sucks, are probably victims of amateur web developers who put too much useless Flash animations in their website. Most of these developers don't understand the meaning of "Dial-up" and "Narrow bandwidth".
