First came the highly dissapointing news that GT4 would not include well over due real time car damage incorporated in many of todays hottest racers such as Project Gotham Racing 2 (XBOX) and the long running Colin Mcrae series, and now to add insult to injury according to recent reports Sony and Polyphony have confirmed that the long awaited Forth game in the series cleverly entitled
Gran Turismo 4 will no longer include online play!
This is surely going to be a huge blow for PS2 racing fans worldwide and the PS2 itself as GT4 is expected to be an awesome racer.

Now go get that XBOX!!!

Sorry if previously posted.

Yeah but i am willling to bet the sheer class, realism, and playability will make it outsell all those other games put together by about 50 to one. Gran Turismo series is simply the best racing game ever, its fabulous.

If GT4 has no online mode then that is just a waste of time. Why bother releasing it [addsig]

Its hardly a waste of time. Just because you have net access doesnt mean that everyone on the planet does. There are still very few ps2 owners who have it set up online, and millions upon millions upon millions who dont.

@ methylated_spirt, valid point but still a great shame though as it was promised to be included way before sony and polythony started working on the 4th title, maybe the PS3 will fair better when they release GT5 on it.

Yeah, they are probably going to use it as their flagship title again when they launch the ps3, just as they did for ps1 and ps2, so i suppose they will be holding back the goodies for that version, to make it extra special and wow everyone with it, which i am sure it will do. I love Gran Turismo, its fabulous!

Come on guys, this is sony. They dropped online because it was delaying the game too much. They're fleecing ps2 owners by releasing an online version sometime next year, possibly at a budget price.

No, i dont think they will release an online version for the ps2 at all, i think they will make it online on the ps3, and use it to launch the ps3 as a true online games console. I reckon thats why it was shelved.

It was a guess, but it seems the obvious thing to do for maximum impact.

The ps2 isnt a true online console, sure they left an accessory bay at the back, but on the ps3 the online aspect will be addressed much more seriously.

@BOSS HOGG i agree its a shame that Sega didn't keep the Dreamcast in production for afew years longer as i think its still a great machine, and the PS2 games available on its launch weren't all that fantastic anyway, Metropolis street racer was much better than RR5 and Tekken TT put together, even though they are two totally different games.
