first of all u need to delete one of your post. u posted the topic twice i believe. phone companies tend to lock the phones that they sell so that only sim cards from the company work on the phone. to get other phone companies sim cards to work in your phone you need to unlock the phone. [addsig]

But in my mobile phone nokia 6600, i can insert sim cards of hutch, bsnl, airtel and idea. I think every sim card works in my phone.Does it means that my phone is unlocked?

@johnson - NO . . . your fone is a 'snatched' one . . . Yep, it's 'unlock' ! In other places like mine - Manila, it is called - 'open line' !

I know it usually happens in europe and US, latin american phone companies not usually lock them, in Perú TIM phones are unlocked, maybe because it's the only GSM operatorin the country.

those are all gsm providers.. here none of the gsm providers gives locked phones...
the sole cdma carrrier however gives out custom made phones....

If.these.is.the.case.than.can.i.update.my.software.of.7210.bought.from.UAE(gulf).coz.all.indian.sim.card.can.work.on.my.phone.
