I reckon it's either someone with nothing better to do, or possible someone linked to terrorism - but they won't put bombs on the planes! They know that they can cause a lot of disruption by simply claiming there's a bomb there, they know it will be diverted, fighters scrambled, etc., causing a lot of inconvenience, cost governments money, and maybe a little extra publicity into the deal.
It's the fear of another 9/11 that they're perpetuating, and most Western governments are still (undertstandably) jittery.

We have learned that on this days when they put a bomb ona plane, or use it as a bomb, they do not make calls anymore.

its a small norweigan aircraft but I'd still like to know how a passenger can get an axe aboard any commercial airplane!

I heard that story too! Apparently no one was too badly injured and the managed to land safely. Sounded like it was a fairly small plane on an internal flight, so I bet security was more lax than it should have been.
You don't think it was Laffen or Tranquil that did it, annoyed at their last broadband bill?

Axe was smuggled on board
The 30-year-old man who attacked two pilots with an axe on a Kato Air flight from Narvik to Bodø on Wednesday smuggled the weapon on board, police said at an afternoon press conference. Original reports stated that the weapon used was an emergency axe stored on board the flight.
Related stories:
Pilots attacked with axe - 29.09.2004
Police commissioner Tone Vangen in Salten told the press in Bodø that the eleven passengers on board the flight were under the impression that the man's intent was to crash the plane.
Vangen said that none of the passengers had noticed anything unusual about the man before the incident.
"When he got up and went forward the passengers thought he wanted to make contact with the pilots. Instead he attacked them with an axe," Vangen said.
Vangen said the plane nearly crashed during its approach to Bodø.
"We can be happy that it went as well as it did," Vangen said. The plane went into a spin during the attack and the wounded pilots only regained control over the aircraft 30 meters above the ground.
When police searched the man they found a carpet knife in his inside pocket and a hunting knife was found in his baggage. Police originally believed he had used the plane's emergency axe to attack the pilots, but a small hunting axe was used. The onboard axe was still in place.
The 30-year-old had recently had his application for asylum in Norway rejected and had been living in a reception center longer than legally allowed.
Vangen said the man was now receiving medical treatment.
(Aftenposten English Web Desk/NTB)
Other untranslated news (in Norwegian) states that he first hit both pilots with the axe and then tried to get control of the plane. Two of the passengers saved the pilots by removing the man with the axe, and held him (down on the floor) until the plane was safe on the ground and security removed the attacker.

Another threat in the last few hours it seems, a 767 en route from berlin to london landed at schiphol in amsterdam after a phonecall claiming it had a bomb on board. Looks like Osama got a mobile phone for his birthday and is having a jolly good knees up.

The happening in Norway did not have anything to do with terrorism. It was a person with personal problems. Of course, the results might have been disastrous anyway, so we are lucky that all survived.
