@lethal-cassanova - What the heck were you doing back there in Baguio? I am treated like a 'king' everytime I visit Semicon place near my area, the manager there is my drinking buddy - that's why (tehehehehe). Kidding aside, they treat me exceptionally! I am at/in their place almost 24/7 . . . When I have some extra cash in my pocket I buy them some snacks at times - that's why. The service is good, they still follow the 1 hour replace cosmetics/repair software house rules . . . but I don't queue in line, I hand my unit directly to the manager when something needs some fixin'!

@JN, inuman tyo sma mu yung manager ..Anyway, I had my k700i upgraded at Semicon podium after 2hrs they tell me they couldnt do it. They convinced me to send my phone to their main branch and I'll get it back after 3 days..It took me 5 freakin days to get my phone back and still they could not upgrade it! The thing that I hate most is that they keep repeating to me the phone may not be in the same condition after I get it back (Like saying: Pag nasira namin phone mu sori ka!) for me that's a bullshit policy. I bought a dss-20 for 700 bucks and upgraded my phone to r2l using online upgrade and it now works like a charm esp. the battery (last 3 days now)

hi. where did you buy the dss-20? is that brand new? did you get a successfull upgrade after the first attempt? i also tried the online update (using dss-20 on winXP SP1) but it took me 3 attempts to get everything right. the first 2 screwed up my phone as in i can't save anything sa phone memory. it says "memory full" even if i still have 42MB free. the weird thing is that the first 2 attempts i did not get any error messages during and after the upgrade. it even said that the upgrade was successful. i even went to Smartnet for a reflash but they couln't fix it also. anyway i tried it for the 3rd time but now i removed my SIM card for the whole process. evrything went well but at the end of the process i got a message "error in communicating with device." i don't know what happened but when i checked my phone it's already R2L and now i can save items in the memory. it's been a week now since i did the 3rd attempt and my phone is still working and haven't found any problems. hope i don't find any.

I was able to get a 2nd hand dss-20 at sm north edsa. I think the shop itself (a cellphone repair center) is located near smartwireless.Yes I was successful on my first attempt and I even tried to do it again to my suprise it went through w/o a hitch It was my last option since semicon could not upgrade my phone sw problem daw

thanks for the reply. anyway did you remove your SIM card when you used the online update? is your phone working perfectly? i mean have you tried out all features to see if they're all working (like trying to save an incoming file via BT or IR)? what language pack does your K700i have? mine is TAIWAN. btw can i ask for a favor? can you post here the contents of the log file that was created when you went thru the online update? you can also email it to me if it's more convenient. my email is j4sp33d@hotmail.com. i'd like to compare your log file against mine to see what went wrong with my upgrade. the log file, mySEUSlog.txt, can be found in c:\program files\sony ericsson\update service\log

thanks

Though it was very obvious that the prices of the handsets at Semicon costs about 2K or 3K higher than the ones bought at the 'tiangge' shops, because of the warranty you are after . . . I'm not buying fones there - not practical! The only thing I am always after is their original Nokia and SE accessories . . . and I just forgot to apply me a VIP card (for years now) - to get me some discounts about 10% on my next buys . . . .

I asked Semicon Megamall how much their ICE-25 case is and they gave me a price of about 800 pesos.

Then I dropped by the SE booth in Glorietta. They were selling it fo 675! Siyempre, binili ko na.

So ano yun??? I don't get how they're able to do business if they have prices higher than SE itself!

SEMICON SUCKS! I ordered a sim holder for a nokia 7200, the one that flaps open and close to hold the sim to the phone. When I went to pick it up they said there is a labor charge daw, labor charge to install the hinge?!?! I got the part and put it in in front of them and they said may charge pa din daw. I returned the part to them and got one from Nokia care in Makati for only 82.00 pesos, SEMICON'S price was 120.00 pesos. It's in the name folks, if you look closely... SEMICON = SEMI + CON semi conning us. Dati pa yan bad service.

to mebius, i agree with you, SEMICON maybe is the worst A.K.A. reliable cellphone shop in pinas..i just only want to know the price of a simple p900 self installable kit, and they told me that i have to fall in line to the technical department which i think will take me hours just to know the simple price of a simple product..!!!! they cant just tell right in front of my face whats the price of that $#%@$! kit!!! ggod thing we have those "kanto shops nearby".. bwehehehe!! cheers esato members!!!!

Speaking from experience, when you buy cosmetics/accessories at Semicon that will just be FREE of charge like: covers/housings, batt covers, batteries etc. Also, they charge a minimum of Php 500.oo for labor costs such as: Firmware upgrades, cleaning etc. If you are used with them, I guess there's just nothing unusual with it, honestly speaking their prices are quite high mates, but if you frequent their place, better get yourself a VIP Discount Card (around php 290.00) for one year, will give you a 5-10 % discounts on accessories only and not on labor cost and handset prices!
