It's not worth it if you have no problems with your phone.

I borrowed a DSS25 from my friend and updated the firmware on my Orange branded K700i. Went from R2C to R2L. The only trouble I had was with videos I had loaded previous to the update. I had to delete all the videos from the phone using Sony/Ericsson file manager and copy them back over to the phone. It works lovely now though and seems to have improved battery life as well as Bluetooth.

I highly recommend the update.

The only problems I had with R2C were the battery life and the Orange "shortcut" issue.

After upgrading the R2L the improved battery life is amazing...the "shortcut" issue is still there tho.

does it still work if your phone is locked to orange...did the software go to original SE k700i setting so there wasn't any stupid orange icons???

Orange shortcuts issue.
Orange branded phone comes with shortcuts pre installed by orange and the ability to change shortcuts has been taken out of settings menu.

so is there absolutly NO way of getting rid of the orange 'branding' on the phone or at least the two main issues (to me!) -the no caller ID photo with txt message alerts and of course the bloody shortcuts?!
