K700i Bluetooth Problems! |

Im pretty new to this bluetooth world so im after some advice please!
I bought a bluetooth dongle a few months ago from the 'Link' but the cd did not contain a driver for the k700i. I contacted the manufacturer who said the phone was to new and a driver was not available.
I then took it back and got the standard DCU-11 cable, but if im doing something wrong i find this terribly slow even compared to infared on my laptop (im currently using infared at the moment)
I would just like to know what bluetooth adaptor/dongle is compatable with the k700i to transfer all the files (sounds games vids etc) that will also include a driver. I would also like to know if anyone else thinks the DCU-11 cable is slow or am i doing something wrong?
Im Using Windows XP service pack 1 soon to be 2.
Keep up the good work everyone, this board is amazing!

bluetooth dongles do not need to be specifically compatible with the K700, they just need to support the bluetooth profiles that the K700 (and other mobiles phones) have such as obex object exchange, sync profile and dial up profile etc
probably the dongle you had did support these profiles as most, if not all, bluetooth dongles do these days
the DCU cables (like all SE cables) are slow because, althought they have a USB interface they are actually working in a serial manner (like CMO ports)

Not much good news from me, I'm afraid!
I've spent hours struggling to get this combo to work. The software for the devices (K700i and a Sitepoint usb/bluetooth CN-500 dongle) appear buggy. I've removed all Sony-Ericsson's programs for now.
The CD with the dongle doesn't have the latest drivers for XP SP2: that's a download from the Sitepoint website. But they seem worse than the CD's versions: I couldn't save the 'visibility' option for the PC. Just plugging the dongle into the PC and letting XP sort it out did better.
If I switch Bluetooth on on my phone, every 5 seconds or so it asks me if I want to activate remote control, effectively getting in the way of any other operation. So I switch Bluetooth off: it looks like sending a file from the phone activates it without that damn silly offer to 'activate remote control' popping up.
I also get problems with the phone reporting 'Bluetooth is currently busy' when trying to turn it on (or off?).
In other words, getting Bluetooth to work with this combo might work under laboratory conditions, but for Joe Public, it's a mess. |

I use a Belkin Bluetooth dongle with my K700i and it works fine. From experience I know that some dongles can be hard to set up though.
You should disable the remote control option in the bluetooth settings on the computer to stop the phone from attempting to connect every 5 seconds. I had this trouble when using a Smart BlueOpal dongle. Now I have the Belkin dongle, it's as good as gold.

Hey. I gota say this forum is excellent and you can find all the right info - good work!
Anyways I have the "I-tech mini bluetooth dongle" and it seems i must be missing some software because a good few functions aren't working. For now i have downloaded the SE file manager from the site and i'll see how that goes but the main thing which is really annoying me is the fact that i can't mp.3 files to transfer to my K700i.
Its not an obvious mistake like i havnt named my device or it hidden so could someone please make a suggestion!?
Thanks |

you should of kept your old bluey dongle, what you should of done is found out who actually made this product and phone them up and tell them to send you a knew software that supported K700i or if not you should of went to there support web site and dowloaded it from, thats exactly what i have done.

Why does it have to be so hard to get this shit to work anyway?!
Somebody sed it was not possible to get mp.3 to the K700i but the man in the shop sed you could. -I think my fone is either not picking up the bluey signals from my pc or im using gay software??

Be happy with your dongle and it's really good to use them.

I have been trying to get my 700i working with my PDA (my old t68 worked fine), eventually went in to the London Vodafone centre - they said it was a known issue (the salesman had the same combination). He infered the battery life was also due to be fixed by a soon to be released firmware upgrade.
They said it would be out in two weeks, this was three weeks ago and i am due in town again tomorrow!
Reply if you want an update after Tuesday.
