I brought a K700i in Hong Kong on holiday but now Im back in the UK. Can I still get updates?
Also is it worth buying a data cable just to update the software. Ive heard they are like £30 just for a cable. |

Probably best to check with your local SE Service Centre to see if they'll do the update before spending money & trying yourself.
They may not do it as a HK phone is not covered by the European Warranty but it won't harm to ask

You need more than a cable. You need either a DSS-20 or DSS-25 Sync Station to perform the upgrades. This is mentioned in much detail all over this forum. |

sapporobaby forgot to mention something; use the search Channy, use the search (imagine Sir Alec Guinness saying this) ...

You need help dude. Maybe its that high Mitichlorids count or the fact that you must bring order to the Universe or atleast Esato. |

I upgraded my Hong Kong K700 a couple of weeks back to R2L at a UK service centre. It was no problem for them except they couldn't load a UK version onto it so they had to load a Hong Kong R2L version on instead so the languages remained the same. English and chinese.

Normally SE would not service an imported phone. However as a special case, they upgraded mine (bought in Singapore). They had problems loading the local firmware. So they upgraded mine to the Honk Kong version of R2L.
