i notice in messaging account -> SMS -> connection type, i can specify either GSM or GPRS.
currently it's set to GSM. if i switch over to GRPS, for each SMS send, does it still go against my SMS bucket or use the t-zones GPRS?
i currently have T-Mobile, $4.99 unlimited t-zones & $2.99 300 SMS.

@xodeus uses it in dk, he reported ca 1 week ago, but gprs access doesnt mean auto the possibility to send sms via gprs. Both of u should ask the operator.

you can not send sms via gprs on tmobile, and to the best of my knowledge you can not send them on any other network.

hello,
i wonder if this applies to all the carriers in the US. so the fact that some people say they can do it in UK or Russia does not mean we can do it in the US, correct?
that's too bad. i was so hoping i could send SMS via GPRS to avoid paying for international SMS. |

Hi
I was doing all the search on boards and also on internet to configure sms over gprs....I don't see an option to do that on my T610....
I selected Data Comm. under conntectivity... it has one listing Data Accounts. There I don't see any SMS option... the only options I have are t-zones, T-Mobile Backup, Test and PictureMessaging.
Am I missing something here?...... coz I did like to select sms over gprs...........
btw, I'm on T-Mobile USA. For those of you who are not able to actually SEND it, look at this thread

is it possible this is location dependent? i just read the thread in howard forum. some folks in seattle with t-mobile claims he has no problem sedning via GPRS?
would anyone here in california with P900 verify this? i'm in san francisco and i am unable to send via GPRS.
in the SMS setting, under SMS Service Center Address i have +12063130004
if i switch it over to GPRS perferred, do i need to change the service center address???

I tried switching over to gprs preferred and it sent just fine. I'm now wondering if sms sent by GPRS counts against me or not. |

ok guys i know about this, im from mexico so ya our company is managed by monkeys lol, anyways this guys comes to me and says hey man i got free sms, do u wanna have them? im like ............... ya rite......... he is like look my phone is prepaid and im out so he takes his phone and sends me a sms, im like O_O wtf?? show me show me, he say all u gotta do is this and that, im like thx bud. i had free sms for over 2 months i was so damn happy sending like 80 sms a day and shit, but then one day i was going to send that and bammmmm error, i was like wtf??? so i asked the guy who told me about this, and he said that the telcel guys (network company) found out about this and fixed something or changed something so u are not allowed to send them anymore =(
When u send them by gprs they wont charge u, at least thats here because u dont get charge for mms just for sms so u were sending ur sms to the mms network and u were not getting charged. Another thing if u send them by grps they get sent faster.
Hope i helped y'all, later.........sorry about my english lol

I just tried "GPRS preferred" and the SMS sent without a problem. The only thing I found odd was that the phone did not initiate a data connection. It seemed to send the message just as it always does.
