K700 online update service is back up! |

Hmm, I've managed to update to R2L001 with an unbranded k700i.
I did get an error though during installation... At about 70% done it jumped to 91%, went up to 92% and there it waited a while. Then a box came up, "Error communicating with device".
Then I can choose to "Start over" (recommended if phone starts normally on power on) or go to "Recovery mode" (if phone doesn't start on power on).
But checking the firmware after this confirms R2L001 is there... Well well, hope it's all there...
Hmm, I lost my phone language... Well well, I'll use english until SE fixes this...

hi guys. what's the difference between DSS-20 and DSS-25? which one is better? which one is recommended for the K700i? both sync station models are available at a sony ericsson dealer here in the Philippines but i want to buy the one which is more suited to the K700i so that i can use the online update service.
have any of you guys successfully updated your K700i using the online update service via a dial-up internet connection? i read that it is recommended that your connection to the internet should be broadband but unfortunately i don't have broadband or cable internet connection. how long did it take to update the K700i with a dial-up connection using a 56K modem? i read the overview and FAQ on the online update site and i'm quite bothered on what will happen to the phone when your internet connection is suddenly cut. any of you guys experienced this? thanks. |

Oh man!
I'm on o2 but seem to have a less branded o2 k700 than others.
I've seen other o2 k700's with o2 brandings and they have different icons, start up screens, theme's (o2 ones) where as on my o2 k700 the only thing that has anything to do with o2 is connectivity---->o2--->get settings (which dont work anything anyway).
All my icons, themes and startup screen are origanl one's!
Guess the only way to find out if it works is to give it a try (if its still up and running when i get the chance to do it)

It says in the FAQ that even if your connection to the internet is interrupted it won't do anything to the phone because it makes sure it has downloaded everything BEFORE updating the phone. |

thanks JoolsG3. what about the sync station to be used (DSS-20 or DSS-25) for the online update service? does the K700i need a specific sync station or can it work with either DSS-20 or DSS-25? thanks again. |

So, the Sync Station is a physical device? Not the software supplied with the phone having the same name...? |

@Zzombie: It's a physical device.
And anyone know where to buy said physical device in the States? I can't find the Dss-20 or Dss-25 anywhere for less than $50. And Sony Ericsson's online store doesn't even carry it!?! |

Damn. My O2 Online phone won't upgrade either, like the others before...
I get this from the Java upgrade application:
And then the webscreen shows this:
I've emailed O2 asking how we've meant to update the firmware... Don't hold your breath...

@mers, Try Ebay, you'll probably find one on there, and probably cheaper.

BTW, there no difference technically between the DSS-20 and then DSS-25... |
