I think we should damand a very good explanation from o2 as to why they have 'banned' it. Theres nothing stopping people taking it to a SE shop to upgrade the firmware, so I see no point what so ever in stopping people doing it themselves using SE's own online update service. Thats just total stupidity.

I've emailed them telling them to get their act together or I'll be asking for my PAC code. Maybe they'll beg me to stay and offer me a S700i or something. :p

I have also just emailed them to find out what is going on too, it cant be that hard the other networks do it.

I also find it hard to believe that the 2 biggest networks have problems with people running the service they need to sort them selves out.

I will keep you posted as to what relpy i get.

Does anyone know if the 'My Friends'-option will be available after an fw-update? I'm having a k700 without it, and I would like to have it for some test-purposes. (it might become usefull for system/networkoperators, hehe)

That's a lot of bullshit,im not on o2 but that is awfully wrong! You should switch networks to teach them a lesson.

Just received my DSS-25 and got FW updated to R2L. The languages are the same as before. Shutter sound can be turned off by taking pictures in silend mode or in meeting profile, which essentially put the phone in silent mode. Hope the battery life is improved.

quick question. if i take my o2 phone to the local shop and get a proper unbranded firmware stuck on it for £10. Would i then be able to use this update service in future?

because im sure i read in this thread somewhere that sonyericsson said they need a list of imei numbers provided by o2, in which case it must look at imei and NOT firmware when it checks the phones, which then means me getting it done in the local shop first will have no effect on the update service.

whats the email address everyone is sending these complaints to o2 on?

I don't want to keep on at o2 as a lot of people are ok with their updates on other networks.

I don't know if this is new but just tried to update o2.
(Even tho I know it doesn't work).

Haven't seen it saying this one before

Hi, I've noticed a bug in R2L. It happened to me twice already. I tried use the camera from standby and the phone just crashes. It just blinks a white screen. When I try to restart the phone, ironically, it does not prompt for my sim password and just restarts without the SE startup screen. It just seem to happen randomly. Does this happen to anyone else?

My phone crashes with the same blinking white screen after I made a successful login to "my friends". Although I could live with it, it's still annoying since it never happened when I had r2a041 fw The online update service is still not that perfect but i'm still thankful coz service centers could not update my phone only the online update did ......Just waiting for the next fw...

I always got a FATAL ERROR when updating after:

"Preparations completed
Application starting...

The application will soon open in a separate window."

I don't have any Firewall enable, my phone is 89% of battery, I have downloaded the drivers showed in the installation guide (P900 drivers and scripts?!) and I have Win XP Pro SP2. My actual firmware version of my K700i is: R2A041 prgCXC125897_EU_2_C (Vodafone branded).

What is wrong?
